J.Crew has a very
accessible website. There is nothing tricky about the website name and it is
simply, www.jcrew.com. The live chat and 24/7
customer service hotline make the website extremely accessible. When clicking
the live chat you are instantly connected with a customer service
representative or “specialist” who promptly answers questions about the company
and merchandise. The J.Crew website is
easily navigable on a mobile device as well. J.Crew does not yet have an
application for mobile devices but they do have an in-store styling app. J.Crew
could definitely benefit from creating a mobile app since many retailers are
using their smart phone applications to better cater to their customer. Other
retailers’ applications notify customers of sales and promotions, and see where
their customers are purchasing from and accessing the application. Threats to
J.Crew would be competitor retailers developing their smart phone application
before J.Crew and consumers using those retailers for their mobile commerce
needs.
